A leading aspirant in the forthcoming Chairmanship election in Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State, Ogbeni Akano Yaya Kayode, has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Yaya urged Muslims in Abeokuta South Local Government and Ogun State at large to embrace the virtues of forgiveness and common understanding as they join their counterparts across the world to celebrate the end of the Ramadan fasting season.
In a statement by the young political icon on Sunday, 24 May 2020, he noted that Eid is a day for people to cheer and laugh with their hearts, and a day to be grateful to Allah for all HIS heavenly blessings.
The All Progressive Congress aspirant implored Muslims to pray and celebrate at their homes due to the devastating impact of the COVID -19 pandemic and in line with the Government’s directive. He also stated further that Muslims should extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, including love, peace, and brother’s keeping amongst others, beyond the period of Ramadan.
Yaya further commended the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his policies and palliatives at this difficult times, the world over.
He, therefore, charged all Muslim faithfuls to use the Eid celebration for sober reflection and pray for peace, unity, and progress of the state and nation at large.
