The Gombe state Task force on covid 19 has commenced the distribution of face masks across 114 wards of the state as part of measures to curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.
Chairman of the Task force on covid-19 Prof. Idris Mohammed, represented by the state commissioner of Education Dr. Habu Dahiru said this is part of the 1 million locally produced face masks earmarked for distribution across the entire state.
He said, ” we are staring the distribution of 1 million face masks with the eleven (11) wards in Gombe local government and the initiative will cover the entire wards of the 11 Local Government Areas of the state”.
The Executive Secretary, Gombe state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Abdulrahman Shu’iabu in his opening remarks said, the only percussion for a time being remains wearing face masks, regular hand sanitizing and observing social distancing.
In his comment, Chairman House committee on Health in Gombe state House of Assembly, Hon. Bappah Jurarah, urged the people to continue to comply with experts’ advice regarding containment of the global monster.
Also speaking, the Senior District Head of Gombe, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar ( Yariman Gombe) who received the items, applauded the proactive measures put in place by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in tackling the the coronavirus pandemic, especially with setting up of quarantine zones, fully equipped isolation and treatment centres to deal with mild to severe cases.
