Governor Abiodun’s Special Assistant loyalists storms Splash FM, forced host to switch program guest

Abeokuta – A staff of Splash FM Abeokuta, Olamilekan Aderigbe, known as Iseyin Oro on radio came under heavy threat by comrades loyal to Governor Dapo Abiodun Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs, Azeez Adeyemi for inviting the incumbent Deputy Coordinator of NANS Zone D, Oladimeji Uthman, popularly called Danfodio on a live radio program.

Danfodio against all odds emerged as the Deputy Coordinator at the last NANS Zone D election held in Lagos State College of Health Technology, Yaba, Lagos.

Danfodio who was scheduled to be on splash FM on Friday, 24th of April 2020 to discuss the effect of COVID-19 on Nigerian Students and the entire educational system was disappointedly absent.

Instead, Akinwunmi Akinshola, popularly known as ‘Versatile’, a loyal comrade to Azeez Adeyemi was featured and introduced himself as the Deputy Coordinator of NANS Zone D.

GistIsland investigated the switch in guest without prior notice and found out that Danfodio was attacked on his way into the radio station, which led him to take to his heels for fear of his life.

GistIsland in a phone conversation with Danfodio asked how another person surfaced for his program. Danfodio in his response addressed Versatile as an imposter and made it clear that Splash FM host, Iseyin Oro was threatened and was helpless, which led to the unwanted visitors having their way.

He said, “I was dropped at the other side of the road by a brother and had to cross to the other side. I crossed half way and got delayed for few minutes because of the cars passing. Apparently, a car headlight made me realised that the NAOSS President, Gbemileke Ogunrombi (O’Leke) was at the otherside of the road. Then, I realised that the SA boys are over there.

“I became curious and stood without crossing. Before I knew it, he shouted that’s him, attack him, attack him, don’t let him enter the radio station. I had to cross back and run for my life. They kept stoning me with charms and other traditional materials. I stopped a bike and ran away.

“I wouldn’t have thought they would go back to the station to seat for my program until friends and comrades called me to say I’m not the one they are listening to. I put a call through to the host the next morning and he affirmed to that they threatened to destroy things in the station if they did not feature Versatile on the program”, he added

The Pusbisher of GistIsland put a call through to the host, Olamilekan Aderigbe, otherwise known as Iseyin Oro. He confirmed that they threatened to destroy things. However, he had to switch the guest for peace to reign.

“I have no choice that to let them be on the program. They threatened to destroy Splash FM properties and equipments and if that happened, I will be answerable to my boss here. I have my work and personality to protect,” he added.

It was gathered that Danfodio who duly contested in the last election did not get the support of Governor Abiodun’s Special Adviser. Meanwhile, the South West Zone under the leadership of the Zone Cordinator, Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel has called on students in the zone to stay away from one Comrade Akinwunmi Akeem Akinshola who has been parading himself as the Deputy Coordinator of the Southwest Zone of NANS.

GistIsland also called Governor Abiodun Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs, Azeez Adeyemi to balance her report of the story. Instead, the former NANS Public Relations Officer threatened to take legal action against GistIsland Publisher if his name ever feature in the story. He did not affirm nor debunk the story.

All efforts to to reach the NAOSS President, O’leke proved abortive, his phone number has been out of reach at the time of filing this report.
